Strangely calm, 12×16 watercolor
I made a commitment to myself this year to paint larger. I got a giant stack of watercolor blocks on deep sale and I suppose I needed to do something with them. I also got hold of a copy of Nita Engle’s How to Make a Watercolor Paint Itself, and this is what happened. 12×16…

Molokai, 8×8 watercolor
We took a vacation to Maui a couple years ago. This part-memory, part-real scene was the view from Ka’anapali Beach toward the island of Moloka’i. I think we could have stood in this spot for the rest of our lives. I made this for the 8×8 juried exhibition at the Lawrence Arts Center in November…

Weird gap pond, 6×8
Sometimes I passively-aggressively name my own paintings. I mean, what’s that weird gap in the middle? 6×8 watercolor on New York Central 300gsm cold-pressed paper; collection of the artist.

Dry, 8×8 watercolor
This one was created for the Lawrence Arts Center 8×8 juried exhibition this past November. It’s now in the collection of a close friend of our family. I ultimately didn’t submit this one but it just barely didn’t make the cut. 8×8 watercolor on Baohong 300gsm rough paper.

I created this one for the 8×8 juried exhibition at the Lawrence Arts Center this past winter. I ultimately decided not to submit it, but it ended up being one of my favorites. 8×8 watercolor on Baohong 300 gsm rough paper.

Still building
I’m still building out this space. It’s been slow going. The holidays have been packed, both with joy and with norovirus. They’ve been packed with work – the regular, paying kind – as well. I finished the About page for now and will continue pick at the rest. One day at long last I may…

Howdy!
This space will be the home for my artistic endeavors. This site will be used to display my paintings and eventually you’ll be able to buy them here if you like. I’ll also occasionally post about my art practice and maybe about other things as well. Who knows how this will go? Anyway, keep watching…
